CCC continues to offer free life-affirming help and support that saves lives.

The helpline has been very busy! A quick update from the CCC calls line: 1-855-675-8749, our “Hopeline”, calls have increased. People are calling for mental health and counselling support.

Recent calls include a man in his forties who wishes to die by euthanasia (“MAID”) because of debilitating pain throughout his body. We referred him to our trusted pain management clinics, as well as resources in alternative medicine who specialize in symptom management.

A local woman called us who is a dedicated leader. She said she wanted to die because she feels overwhelmed. This is a common experience for caregivers. The role this woman holds is taking a toll on her personal life, mental health, and overall wellbeing. She is getting emotional and pastoral support and remains in touch with CCC.

A young woman in the GTA called multiple times about her friend who wants to die by euthanasia, asking what services we offer. Although CCC cannot support all cases, we work hard to ensure every person’s situation is respected, their life is affirmed, and they are provided with the effective referrals and information they need.

There is a need for quality mental health support for the elderly, middle-aged, and those who need ongoing care. The need is often simply for someone to listen. Recently, we spoke to a person with mental health challenges and they said, “…the waitlist for counselling treatment and support is up to nine months or more.” We act quickly to provide care as soon as possible.

This brings us to one of our new and exciting programs: A dedicated counselling support team and mental wellbeing fund. We have created a referral network of caring, trusted, certified mental healthcare professionals who are ready and enthusiastic to take on cases from CCC.We ask you to consider helping us fund this program. Our goal is to raise $10,000. We thank you in advance for your consideration and support!
